Over the past 5 years or so, the results of a new
generation of research studies testing the safety and benefits of a
variety of medications for PDD have emerged. Most of the newer studies
have been designed to target a particular constellation of symptoms,
such as agitation and aggression, and this approach appears to have been
fruitful. As some successes have been documented, some safety concerns
have also appeared which will be reviewed. Lastly, some experimental
data on the use of genetics to predict treatment outcomes will be
presented. Given the growth of new data, it is important for both
parents and practitioners to be up-to-date with current findings.
The lecture will be held at the Hilton Hotel Southbay on Hawthorne Blvd in Torrance.
